Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the things I get asked most. Still not sure? Just ask.

01

Repairs & Turnaround

Not always. Many issues can be fixed remotely — I connect securely to your machine and sort it while you watch. If it does need to come in, I’m based in Rakaia and can arrange pickup and dropoff for local customers.

I'll give you an honest assessment upfront — if it's not worth repairing, I'll tell you that before any work starts.

Most standard repairs — virus removal, tune-ups, software fixes — are done same day or next business day. Hardware repairs or parts orders take longer, but I'll always give you a realistic timeframe upfront.

Yes — Windows PCs, laptops, and Apple Mac computers. I can also help with iPhones, Android phones, tablets, and home network setup regardless of the ecosystem.

02

Remote Support

Yes. I use reputable, industry-standard remote access software and you can watch everything I do in real time. You can disconnect at any point, and I'll never access your machine without your explicit permission.

Even a basic rural connection is usually fine. Remote support uses very little bandwidth — a standard ADSL or even a mobile hotspot is typically enough.

03

Coverage & Costs

Yes — I cover the wider Mid Canterbury area including Methven, Ashburton, and surrounding rural areas. A callout fee applies for travel outside Rakaia.

Yes — the price you see is the price you pay. No hidden charges or surprises on the invoice.

04

Web Design

Yes — small brochure and business websites built on WordPress. Single-page sites from $399, up to five pages from $699. Mobile-friendly, contact form, basic SEO, and a handover so you can update it yourself.

I stick to small brochure and business sites. I don't take on projects requiring custom databases, server management, cloud infrastructure, complex e-commerce, or web applications. If your project needs those, I'll tell you upfront and point you toward the right people.

I can sort it for you — domain registration, NZ-based shared hosting, and connecting everything for an $89 one-off setup fee. Or if you already have hosting, I can work with that.

Yes — built on WordPress so you can update pages, swap photos, and make basic edits. I'll walk you through it at handover. Or the $49/month maintenance plan covers updates and keeps everything secure.

05

Payment

Cash, bank transfer (preferred for larger jobs), and card. Invoices issued for business clients on request.
